| The Nautical Wife

Hello everyone!

I cannot believe how fast time flies.. I have been so out of touch with all of you! I just wanted to give some closure to this sweet little blog that I've seemed to abandon..

In my absence here, a lot has happened in my life! I have earned my AA degree, I am living on my own, and I am ENGAGED! Yep, that's right - I have found the man I want to spend the rest of my life with and I am just in such a special season of life right now. :) Looking back at some of my old posts here, I actually see a few little mentions of him, usually referring to him as my "friend" early on, then transitioning into calling him my boyfriend .. How funny to look back, now that he is my fiancé!

So, if any of you are still out there and interested in what's been happening in my life, you should come check out my new blog called
The Nautical Wife! I'm just getting it started and I would love to see you over there!

Take care friends!

| I Floated Away

I realize that I practically vanished from this place called Kate is Late for an unbelievable amount of time, and for that I am truly sorry.

I am not only apologizing to my loyal followers, but to myself. I missed out on documenting so many outfits, moments, and memories that I wish I was able to go back and read about now. Blogging was such a great way for me to savor what I experienced and the clothes I was wearing for those experiences.

And, in realizing this, I am back.

Who knows what the future holds for Kate is Late, but it has waited patiently for my return. I think I owe it another chance to shine! I hope there are still some of you out there who remember me and have not forgotten about the fun we used to have here.

So with all this said, I have SO much to share with you - it's almost ridiculous! There are at least half a dozen trips, multiple outings, and new additions to my wardrobe that I cannot wait to debut. I have no excuses not to post since I have so much that is worthy of this sweet little blog.

Please leave me a comment and let me know how you're doing! I'd love to catch up with all you blog friends :D Check back soon for installments on what has been going on in my life these past eight or so months.

| Who are you?

Sorry for the crummy photo location. I liked the light streaming in through my bathroom window. Haha!

Do you recognize me? Aside from me being gone for over a month, anyway? Yes, it's yours truly!

I got my hair cut today and, on a whim, a color as well. The mixture of color is chestnut, brandy, and Moroccan sand. It actually has a more reddish look but the photo doesn't really capture it well. Hopefully it will be evident in future posts.

It is quite a change. I barely recognize myself! I'm definitely still getting used to it. And so is everyone around me.. Apparently some people prefer me blonde, while others like me either way. :)

What is your honest opinion? I'd love to know!
Now I have to figure out a new makeup routine to compliment the new color. I feel so pale! I think a rich lip color would be awesome. Any suggestions?

Miss you all!

| New Look. Finally.

I have finally added a little spice to the blog! Emphasis on little. Ha! I would love to hear what you think! The banner's a bit edgy, but I'm growing to like it. Do you think it fits?

Anyway, this has been my final week of summer happenings. Farewell late nights and late mornings, lounging without a cause, and painting my nails every other day. I know I won't be able to fit in these luxuries when classes start early Monday morning. Okay, enough moaning from me about summer ending. :)

Oh, and I can't stop listening to Owl City. Ever since my boyfriend pointed out the adorable song Fireflies, my heart flutters every time it comes on the radio. I have them streaming in the background as I write this. Have you listened to Owl City?

Tell me your thoughts about the little changes!

| It's Gonna Be My Year

Hello! Yes, I am still alive and well ;) I sure do miss being up-to-date with everyone. It's only been a few weeks, but it may as well be a few years!

I've been pretty great lately, besides my laptop still being in remission and not having any batteries for my camera. I'm just trying to enjoy my last week and a half of summer. I have some fun things coming up with my boyfriend to do just that, like having a picnic in a beautiful park tomorrow evening, a trip to the beach on Saturday, and an excursion to Knott's Berry Farm next week. Hopefully I'll capture some of these happenings on camera to post. :)

I can't believe it's already time to start getting up early and sitting through lectures. My class selection should be somewhat interesting though: Social Science, Theatre 101, Ethnic Studies, and ASL 103. Are you looking forward to any of your classes this fall?

So, I have seen a few really great movies in these past few weeks. I thought I'd share!

First off, I saw (500) Days of Summer. I though it was spectacular! I think it may be my new favorite. :) The cast, the wardrobe, the soundtrack, the thoughtful scenes, and witty remarks.. It was just lovely. My boyfriend really liked this movie too, so it's not just a chick flick! I adore Zooey Deschanel anyway, so it was hard not to love her in this role. And Joseph Gordon-Levitt isn't so bad either! They're both great actors and I loved their relationship. I could relate to a few things too. Oh, and I loved the music so much, I bought the soundtrack and haven't listened to anything else since! I absolutely recommend both the movie and soundtrack.

Next, I saw Julie&Julia. I thought it was a really sweet film. Amy Adams did well in her role and Meryl Streep was fabulous as Julia Child. I thought the chemistry between Meryl and her on-screen husband, Stanley Tucci, was so believable and kind. At times the movie did seem to drag on, but maybe that's just me. It was fun how it switched back and forth to the two story lines though. Oh, and the food looked ravishing! It made me want to cook. Sort of.

Finally, last night I saw Paper Heart. It was a pretty cute film. I've heard it been called a "mockumentary" and that's definitely what it is. Charlyne Yi was amusing, but sometimes her naivety and awkwardness (which I know must be deliberate, right?) made me feel slightly embarrassed for her. Of course Michael Cera was his usual, nerd-awesome self and his one-liners and comments made the film worthwhile for me. He's just so hilarious. I thought the interviews throughout the movie were really sweet, but it made me wonder what was real or not since it's not an actual documentary. All in all, her quest to learn about love was fun to watch and I enjoyed it.

Have you seen any of these? I'd love to hear what you thought about them!

Anyway, thanks for sticking with me during my little "hiatus," if you'd even call is that. I can't believe I gained a few more followers despite my lack of posting. Almost to 50! I hope to get back into the swing of things soon. :)

Take care!
